This weekend was the Civil War Reenactment held in Huntington Beach. It is sponsored by the Huntington Beach Historical Society. Jennifer only attended Sunday morning and early afternoon and I also went. She somehow hurt her shoulder on Thursday and it was bothering her a lot so she decided not to do the whole event.

Edited to add this later. Here are two links to photos taken there. The first one is my photos that I took on Sunday. There are two albums both of which say civil war. The second is one someone sent me of photos taken by someone who is really good!

Speaking of Jennifer, she is now "working" at Rossmoore Pastries in Signal Hill. This is part of her work experience program at school. The students had to go out and find a job either for pay or volunteer for credit. If they get paid then they must work 75 hours this semester but if they volunteer then they work 60 hours for the semester. Jennifer had read an article in our local newspaper about this shop and seeing as how pastry and baking is her main focus she decided to try there. She had to wait to get the school liability form and then was able to start last week. So far she is enjoying the culinary class and the pastry store.

I have started sort of back to work this past week. All staff was required to go in Thursday morning to attend CPR training. After this training we had a lovely catered lunch. Prior to this I went in on Monday and helped Catherine, my teacher, set the room up. We also worked a little bit after the lunch on Thursday and then we went in Friday morning and continued working. At lunchtime Catherine and I, the other First Grade teacher Diana, her aide Kathy and the former First Grade teacher Carol went to lunch at Mimi's and had a really good time. After lunch we went back to preparing the room and lessons. I left around three and Catherine was still there working on her lesson plans.

This Tuesday the staff is required to attend an OSHA meeting with some other church sponsored schools in the area. After that some of us are having lunch (again at Mimi's) on our own. Then Wednesday is the big day, when we greet our new students for the year! We currently have 15 enrolled in our class and 14 in the other class. This is the lowest enrollment I can ever remember us having. We have a capacity of 26 in our rooms so this will seem strange.

Wonderful pictures! I loved every one of them. I have often thought of attending a reenactment of the civil war battles but have never known when they were.

Thank you for sharing your photos.

Absolutely fantastic! Jennifer is really pretty!
Got any "Widow's" in your area? Those would be ladies, dressed all in black, wearing bonnets with veils. I am a 'Black Rose' with the Order of the Confederate Rose, in Columbia, South Carolina!

You got some great pictures! I hope you get the chance to go to other battles! It is a great experiance. I highly recomend it!
